- Parent/Caregiver Interview: We begin with an interview to gather essential background information about the child, including their developmental history. Questions may cover health history (e.g., any chronic ear infections?), birth details (e.g., was the child born prematurely or with low birth weight?), and family history (e.g., any known language disorders in the family?).
- Child Observation: Our therapist may observe the child in their natural environment. In settings like school or daycare, we watch how the child interacts with peers. During one-on-one therapy, we assess how the child communicates with their parent or siblings who may be present.
- Formal Assessment: If any concerns arise during the initial evaluation, we may conduct a formal, norm-referenced assessment to gain further insights into the child’s speech and language abilities.
